Part 1- About me section as well as where you can connect with me

Hello, my name is Ryan Jones and I am the webmaster of this website

 About me

My name is Ryan Jones and I am 28 years old.  I've been a gamer just about all of my life.  Before getting the Xbox 360, I also had the regular NES, the Sega Genesis, the Nintendo 64, the Sega Dream Cast, Gameboy Advance, Game Gear, the Sony PSP, Play Station 2, Nintendo Wii (before my middle brother moved to Portland) as well as the original Xbox.  I also had an emulated version of the super nintendo for a little while during my college career (though I don't have it anymore).  Of course, now I do have an Xbox 360 and have quite a bit of games that I've been playing through.  So far, the Xbox 360 is my favorite, though I also liked the PS2 and the Wii as well.  As for my personal life, I live in Snohomish, Washington, attend church at the Snohomish Community church (though sometimes I also go to the City Church in Seattle), have 2 dogs, namely a golden retriever and a bichon frise shizu.  I also like going places, making video blogs about stuff (such as the the cruise to Alaska that I went on last summer), talking about the video games I play, etc.

Games I am currently playing through

  • Red Dead Redemption
  • Grand Theft Auto 4
  • Fable 3
  • Perfect Dark Zero
  • Castlevania Lords of Shadow
  • Mortal Kombat vs DC universe
  • Scott Pilgrim vs the World
  • Metal Slug Anthology on the Sony Playstation 2

Part 2 - basic information about this site

This website is all about the Xbox 360 and video games.  I have had an Xbox 360 ever since it came out back in 2005 (had the original Xbox as before that as well), and am happy to share with you what I know about that game system.  This site also offers information about some of the other game systems I have as well, such as the Nintendo Wii.  By the way, I haven't tried the Playstation 3 yet, so I would not know much about that game system (if you have a playstation 3 and want to share information about it, I would be happy to share it on this site).  Eventually, I plan to start an email newsletter for this site, but I will need to get more traffic first.

Top 10 Favorite Xbox 360 games of mine-  these are the games I've liked the most so far:

  • Batman Arkane Asylum -
this is probably the best Batman game I've played since Batman Returns on the Super Nintento.  Nice graphics, voice acting, combat and boss fights.  Makes you feel like you are watching the Batman cartoons from the 1990's (the ones that used to air on FOX kids and had the Batman Returns theme song).  By the way, who makes a better villian in the Batman series than the Joker?  He is the classic maniac.
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance -

    Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2-

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is the official sequel to the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game.  Set about at least a year or so after the original Marvel Ultimate Alliance game, the game takes after the storylines for Nick Fury's Secret War (you can get the full storyline about the game at Wikipedia by clicking on the link above) and later the Marvel Civil War (the heroes even get a new leader, namely Maria Hill, who replaces Nick Fury after he steps down in the aftermath of the "Secret War" part of the game), where the heroes must duke it out over a seemingly trivial matter known as the Super Hero Registration act.  It is a new is a law that gets passed (comes in the aftermath of Nick Fury's Secret war as well as a mishap involving wannabe super heroes at Stamford University as you will see as the game unfolds) that requires all super heroes to either disclose their secret identities to the government (regardless of the implications for such a move) and face other regulations or face jail time for refusing to do so .  Naturally, not all of the heroes are wild about disclosing their identities to the government nor the public for that matter (especially Captain America), and so a civil war ensues between Captain America (who forms the anti-registration faction) and Iron Man (who forms the pro-registration faction), as well as all of the other super heroes (who must choose sides to support).  By the way, you do get to choose your side (which will also decide what side all of the undecided superheroesare on), so playing through the game twice is a must.  Also, a whole new threat emerges from the conflict, and it is up to the heroes to put aside their differences and defeat the new threat before it is too late.  The game is not quite as good as the first, but it does have an excellent storyline too (by the way, the game does not go exactly by the comic version, so don't expect it to be exact same story as the original.
  • Red Dead Redemption -

Red Dead Redemption is definately a classic and is probably the best Western game I've played (probably more so than "Gun" and "The Call of Juarez".  Set in the early 1900's (about 100 years or so ago), the days of the old west were starting to wind down (of course, evey thing has changed by now in the west of course), the federal government officially has a presence in the west, and a former outlaw (the game does not get into all of the details about Marston's past by the way) named, John Marston is recruited by governement officials Edgar Ross and his assistant, Archer Fordham to hunt down and apprehend/execute his former gang members, including Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella, and later a mountain man known as Dutch in exchange for Martson's family (who are being held hostage by Ross's men) as well as his freedom (instead of facing the death penatly for his past crimes, which Ross had also considered for Marson).  Obviously, catching up and defeating former gang members is easier said than done for John Marston, and so an epic adventure ensues as Marston must get involved with the affairs in the region, recruit eccentric characters (such as a con artist named, Nigel West Dickens, a country gal named, Bonnie MacFarlene, as well as other colorful characters, if you know what I mean), get involved in the Mexican civil war (on both sides too), as well as become an errands boy for several other characters (such as doing races for Dickens amongst other things) in his quest to apprehend his former gang members.  The game has 3 major areas you will be in, including: the desert south west (the Rio Bravo area), Mexico, as well as West Elizabeth area (the area where the town, Blackwater is located).  The game is created by the same people who made the Grand Theft Auto series (Rockstar), and so the game has an open ended game play and instead of cars, you have horses and carriages you can use to get places.  Of course, you can always walk or take the train.  Plenty of things you can do in the game too, including lots of side missions you can do (such as stranger tasks), animals you can hunt (especially wolves, cougars, and bears as they will attack you on sight), minigames you can play (like Texas Hold'em Poker and Liars Dice).  You can also make your guy "good" or turn your guy into an outlaw too and do deviant stuff, such as killing civilians, robbing people, cracking safes, bribing law officeres, etc.  Definately a game you do not want to miss
  • Mass Effect - information coming soon about the remaining titles)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
  • Halo 3
  • Fable 3
  • Mega Man 10
  • Scott Pilgrim vs the World
  • Castle Crashers

Other game systems I've played - the Xbox 360 is not the only game system I've played.  Here are some other ones I have played.  By the way, in case you are thinking about getting any of the classic game systems, I decided to add my amazon referral links to them (makes it convenient if you want one).  By the way, the prices are set by the merchants themselves, so if you want them cheaper, you will have to talk to them).  Please be sure to support this site by taking time to visit my sponsors by the way.  Commissions will be used to cover the costs of running this site and can give me reason to post alot more content of course.

1. Original Xbox -

I even playtested at least one of the games (NFL Fever) at the Microsoft Campus near Redmond around the time it came out.

2. Playstation 1 and 2 -

my favorite games on that system are: Metal Slug Anthology (I like it more than Metal Slug 3 on the Xbox, that game was insane), Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy 10, and Mega Man X8.

3. Sega Dreamcast -

it's too bad that game system was short lived (it definatly had lots of potiential, especially before the Xbox, Gamecube and the Playstation 2 entered the 128 bit era).  Had plenty of fun games to play, like Sonic Adventures 1 and 2, the original Marvel vs Capcom game, the original Crazy Taxi Game, as well as Powerstone to name a few.

4. Nintendo 64 -

I actually jumped on that bandwagon late in that generation (got the system while I was attending collge).  My favorite games for the 64 were Super Mario 64, Golden Eye (this was probably the best multiplayer first person shooter game prior to the Halo and Call of Duty series), Star Fox 64 (definately another classic), as well as Castlevania 64.

5. Super Nintendo -

I actually had an emulated verson of the Super Nintendo at least during my collge years (got rid of it since moving back home of course).  My favorite games included: Super Mario World, the original Mega Man X game (though personally I like X4 and X8 the most in the series), Power Rangers the Movie (that was probably the best power rangers game I played in the series that I am aware of), Ninja Turtles 4, Castlevanis Dracula X, as well as Contra 3 (I even made a video on youtube that shows me playing throug the game using cheats that has gone viral since posting it).

6. Sega Genesis, Sega CD, and 32x -

Yes, I did have the full bundle for a while.  My favorite games includes: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles (probably more so than Sonics 1 and 2), Ninja Turtles Heist in Time (though it does seem to be very similar to Ninja Turtles 4 in many ways, including the final boss), Tom Cat Alley, Sewer Shark, Castlevania Bloodlines, Contra Hard Corps, as well as Sonic CD.  I also liked Alien Solider, as well as the original Gunstar Heroes game.

7. Sony PSP -

this was a short lived system I had (it stopped working when I tried downloading an update for a game I had).  The only games I had were: Sims 2 (it is actually more of an RPG than a typical sims 2 game, where you play as a character in Strangetown, and you do various quests in a mission to stop a mad scientist from taking over the world, as well as get out of Strangetown), some Starwars game (forgot the name of it), as well as the Sega Genesis collection.  I've been meaning to fix it, but haven't had the extra money to do so.

8. Game boy advance-

this was a fun game system.  My favorite games were the castlevania series (especially Circle of the Moon) as well as Gunstar Heroes.

9 Regular NES -

who doesn't miss the good ol 8 bit games, and game classics like Super Mario 3, Battletoads, Mega Mans 2 and 3, classic Contra, the original Metrod, Ninja Turtles 2 (played almost like the arcade verion), Bubble Bobble and all of the other classics.

10. Game gear -

Personally, I liked it more than the original Gameboy, especially given the fact that the games have color (which makes it easier to play than the classic gameboy, where everything is black and white).

11. PC games (you can browse PC games at my Amazon Astore at http://astore.amazon.com/rjvideogamer-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=4)- My favorites includes: Mech Warriors 2 and 4 (my favorite mechs were the big and powerful ones like the Atlas, Direwolf, Timberwolf, and the Dashi), X-wing, Rebel Assault, Interstate '76 (that game would be awesome on the 360 by the way), Sims 2 (I even posted a few videos on youtube, incluing one involving my whole sim family getting abducted by aliens once), Starlancer, as well as Spore.  Though currently, I no longer have a computer to play them on, so yeah.

12. Nintendo Wii-

yes, I also have a Nintendo Wii.  It is definately the first of it's kind (before the Kinect and PS Move), where the controller adds more interactivity to the games (such as holding it like a gun on the Metroid Prime Trillogy).  Favorite games so far includes: Wii Sports, Metroid Prime Trillogy (especially the Metroid Prime Corruption), New Super Mario Bros and Zelda Twilight Princes.
