 Advantages over Nintendo Wii

- plenty of arcade style hits

- There have been plenty of good new classics made for the Xbox (such as the Halo series, Mass Effect, Fable and others)

- Made by Microsoft, which is notrious for other successful products, including Microsoft Office, Widows, Internet Explorer, etc.

- One of the few good American-made game systems out there

- Plenty of extra stuff that Xbox 360 offers, such as being able to watch movies on your system, Xbox live arcade, etc

- Xbox live arcade is ideal for tournaments, MMORPGs, death matches, etc

- Plenty of fun 3rd party games too, such as GTA 4, Castle Crashers, and others

- The Controls are easier to use than the Nintendo Wii since you have the traditional dual stick controlers.

Advantages over the Xbox 360

- Revolutionary new contol style.  The Nunchuck Controllers can make many games much more interactive, fun and challenging (gives it more of a virtual feel, and allows you to get on the game).  Also, there are plenty of games that utilize these controller to their full potential, such as Wii Sports Resort and The Original Wii Sports which are just  two of many of the signature Nintendo Wii  games that utilizes the controlers in full potiential.  For example, in the tennis mode, you can actually "swing" the controller around (as if it were a tennis racket) and hit the tennis balls as they come into your court (much like in a real life tennis match).  Also, in the baseball mode, one person pitches the ball by "throwing" the controller (not to be taken literally of course) and the "batter" has to "swing" the controller like a baseball bat to hit it.  Thoser are just two modes of game play these two games offer (Wii sports is currently the only Nintendo Wii game I am real familiar with since I don't actually own a Nintendo Wii).

- While Microsoft is a very reputable company all round, when compared to Sony, Sega, Atari, and many other noteworthy competitors, Nintendo defenitely has its huge advantages in the video game business.  After all, let's face it, they have been around since the days of the original NES (in fact, I grew up with the NES back in the 1980s and early 1990's long before the Sega Genesis came out and later the current generaton systmes as well).  Naturally, Nintedo is certainly no "push over" and they certainly do know their audience and what makes them tick.  Also, they have been pretty innovative with their systems

- The Wii is geared more towards the younger audience than the Xbox 360 is.

- Plenty of timeless classics are available on the WII, such as the Mario Bros. Series, Pokemon, Metroid Prime Corruption, and plenty of others.

 Disadvantages

- geared more towrds the more mature audience.  If you are looking for a game system that is geared more towards the younger audience, then the Nintendo Wii might be a better fit for you.

- The Xbox 360 can be glitchy at times (especially with the "red ring of death" glitch plaguing some systems, mine included)

- If you are looking for plenty of japanese-style classics (such as the Final Fantasy Series, Dragon Ball Z, etc, you might be better off with a Nintendo Wii or PS3), since there are going to be less Japanese themed games than there are on the other two game systems.

- Xbox Live games are note really n00b friendly, and so if you are not really the competitive type, or you die alot in death matches on first person shooters, then you will probably want to get lots of practicing in before doing Xbox live.  Of course, one game you might like that can give you plenty of practice for deathmatches on first person shooters is Perfect Dark Zero . Perfect Dark Zero has a similar feel to the Nintendo 64 Classic, Golden Eye , with some obvous differences, such as better graphics, a different story line, and plus your main character is a female character (namely, Johanna).  Anyways, one nice feature that is offered with Perfect Dark Zero (besides a cool storyline) is the deathmatch mode, where you can not only do either do split screen mode, system link or xbox live, but you can also opt to go either alone or with another player and go up against hordes of bots (which you can customize by the way to give it a better similated feel to the real thing).  It is a pretty good game to practice on if you ask me.

 Disadvantages

- The new control lay out will likely take some time getting used to for those of you who are not familiar with that knd of control layout.  After all, you do have to "swing your controler around", aim it at certain objects, and the like to play games.  Imagine playing say Metal Slug anthology on the Wii.  It seems like the controls on the PS 2 would be easier to get familiarized with since it is more straight forward and you do not have to move the controller around to aim your gun at opponents and the like.

- there are some bizare "games" on the Wii that appeal more towards the non gaming population, such as the Nintendoo Wii brain games, Wii fitness, and the Wii Cook book.  If you are looking for plenty of arcade style games with action and all, then the Xbox 360 might be for you instead.

Note: I don't play the Wii very often (can't afford one after all), and so I would have to play it more to give more details about the Wii .  Sorry.
